Aja Wilson had 35 points and 14 rebounds on 14-of-17 shots on Saturday as Las Vegas beat the Minnesota Lynx 98-81 Saturday to extend a WNBA-record fifth-straight win with an ace scoring at least 15 points. The Phoenix Mercury won five games in a row by more than 15 points in 2014 and 2021, and the Seattle Storm accomplished that feat in 2020. The 2021 Mercury team lost in the finals, becoming the only team in their group to miss the championship that season.
Wilson became the third player in WNBA history to score 35 or more points, 10 or more rebounds, and shoot 80 percent or more from the field. Jackie Young had 19 points, five rebounds and five assists in Las Vegas (21-2). Kelsey Plum scored 16 points, Alisha Clarke added 11 points and Chelsea Gray added 11 points and 11 assists.
Diamond Miller led Minnesota (10-13) with 17 points, while Nafisa Collier had 16 points and eight rebounds. Kayla McBride scored 10 points. The Aces started the game with an 11-0 run, with Wilson and Young outscoring the Dream 32-30 in the first half. Wilson scored 19 on 8-of-10 shots and Young scored 13 to give Las Vegas an 18-point lead at halftime. Gray added eight points and seven assists in the first half alone.
Candace Parker missed five consecutive games as an ace. The two-time WNBA champion (2016, 2021) and two-time league MVP (2008, 2013) has not played since suffering an ankle injury in an 80-78 loss to the Dallas Wings on July 7.
Las Vegas finished the game with 25 assists, 52 percent shooting from the field (36-of-69) and 18-of-24 shooting from the free-throw line. The Lynx were 9 of 10 from the foul line.
