Ali Safar Navadeh Death – A Novato man has been identified as the person who died on southbound Highway 101 in Novato on Friday. Ali Safar Navadeh, 79, was in a disabled vehicle that was parked on the right shoulder near Alameda del Prado when another driver lost control and struck his car around 5 p.m., Chief Deputy Coroner Roger Fielding said.
The impact severely damaged both vehicles. CHP Officer Darrel Horner said that the other driver, described as a Calistoga resident in his 60s, suffered minor injuries. Emergency responders and a bystander found Navadeh in cardiopulmonary arrest and administered CPR, Fielding said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A forensic postmortem examination with toxicology testing will be completed this week. Horner said on Tuesday that alcohol and/or drugs were not a factor in the collision, according to a preliminary investigation.
“The investigation is ongoing and we are looking into possible charges at this time,” he said.
