Allen Lamont Austin Obituary – A man is dead and another man is in custody after an apparent home invasion turned shooting in Arnold, Westmoreland County, Friday night. The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement Saturday that police were sent to Cherry Alley near 17th Street after a man was reported lying on the roadway. That man was determined to be dead, identified by Coroner Tim Carson as Allen Lamont Austin Jr., 29, of Pittsburgh.
According to the district attorney’s office, police learned that Austin and two other people, who have yet to be identified, entered a home in the 1600 block of Fourth Avenue by breaking a back window. Austin confronted the homeowner, 25-year-old Malique Jamal Black, who shot Austin in the chest. Austin fled the house before collapsing in the alley. Black is facing charges of receiving stolen property and illegal possession of a firearm as well as drug offenses. Police have not said how these charges relate to the break-in and shooting.
Black is being held in the Westmoreland County Jail. “I thank the investigators for their quick and resolute response,” said District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli. “Their actions represent the talent and experience we have in the Westmoreland Detective Bureau and in our municipal departments when we work together.” The district attorney’s office and Arnold police are investigating.
