Andre Tyrone Eason Death – A fatal accident occurred on Wednesday, resulting in the death of one person and the hospitalization of three others. The incident took place on Interstate 20 in South Carolina, causing a chain-reaction crash that blocked a portion of the highway for several hours. The deceased individual has been identified as Andre Tyrone Eason, a 30-year-old resident of Augusta, Georgia. The collision involved multiple vehicles and occurred around 9:45 a.m. near the 61 mile marker on I-20. Eason was driving a 2020 Dodge Ram with an enclosed trailer when the trailer became detached. He and another person were outside the vehicle attempting to reattach the trailer when a 2017 Jeep Cherokee, attempting to avoid the disabled pickup, was rear-ended by a 1998 Dodge Ram.
The impact caused the Cherokee to collide with the trailer, which then struck Eason and the other pedestrian. Eason tragically died at the scene. The other pedestrian and the drivers of the SUV and the 1998 pickup sustained injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital. The injuries of the drivers were not life-threatening, although no further information regarding their conditions or the pedestrian’s condition is available at this time.
The accident resulted in the temporary closure of all eastbound lanes on I-20 until the scene was cleared in the afternoon. The South Carolina Department of Transportation reported that the highway was reopened after 3 p.m. The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office are currently conducting an investigation into the crash.
