Barry Hughes Death – The identity of the individual who lost their life in a three-vehicle collision last week has been disclosed by the Porter County Coroner’s Office and the Valparaiso Police Department. Barry Hughes, aged 68 and a resident of Valparaiso, passed away at the scene of the incident on Wednesday, March 27, at the junction of Valparaiso Street and Vale Park Road.
The cause of death was determined to be a severe head injury sustained from the accident, with the manner of death being classified as accidental, as stated in a press release by Coroner Cyndi Dykes. Valparaiso Police were called to the scene at approximately 12:40 p.m. that day following reports of a motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Vale Park Road and Valparaiso Street. It was revealed that the accident involved three vehicles and resulted in Hughes’ fatality, according to a statement from Capt. Joe Hall, the police department’s public information officer.
While occupants of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries, they were treated at the scene. Although the investigation into the crash is ongoing, no charges are anticipated to be filed in connection with the incident at this time. The Valparaiso Fire Department and the city’s Public Works department provided assistance.
