Beverly Wilkins Obituary – A tragic incident occurred on Monday night in Compton, where a 59-year-old woman was fatally shot while sitting in an SUV outside her mother’s home. The shooting took place shortly before 11 p.m. in the 700 block of South Holly Avenue. The victim, identified by her mother as Beverly Wilkins, died at the scene. Beverly Wilkins, who also resided at the home, was sitting in her boyfriend’s Hyundai SUV when shots were fired from a passing car.
The SUV was found with bullet holes in the rear driver’s side. Investigators confirmed that Beverly’s boyfriend was inside the vehicle during the shooting. Rosie Wilkins, Beverly’s mother, was asleep inside the house when she was abruptly awakened by someone pounding on her door. She initially thought the noise was fireworks, a common occurrence in the neighborhood. “Somebody was bamming on the door, ‘Mama, mama, Beverly got shot,'” she recounted.
Beverly Wilkins leaves behind an adult son, according to her family. NBC Los Angeles has reached out to the sheriff’s department for further details, but no arrests had been reported as of early Tuesday.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact homicide detectives at 323-890-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
