Walton, who battled cancer for an extended period, was 71 years old at the time of his passing.
During his illustrious career, he earned the NBA’s Most Valuable Player award in the 1977-78 season and secured two NBA championships as a player. Additionally, Walton was honored with inclusion in both the NBA’s 50th anniversary and 75th anniversary teams. These achievements were preceded by a stellar college tenure where he claimed two championships at UCLA and garnered recognition as a three-time national player of the year.
