Bradley Kreifels Obituary, Death – A Nebraska Department of Correctional Services employee was killed in a four-vehicle crash south of Lincoln on Saturday. According to a Facebook post from NDCS, Bradley Kreifels worked for NDCS for 30 years, most recently at the Community Corrections Center in Lincoln. The crash happened near Southwest 14th Street and Highway 33 at 12:26 p.m. Saturday.
According to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of an Infinity Q56 Sport attempted to pass a Peterbilt semi truck hauling a grain trailer, when it hit the end of the trailer. The Infinity spun into the opposite lane, in the path of a Toyota Tundra, resulting in a severe crash.
LSO said debris from the Infinity hit a fourth vehicle, a Ford Expedition, that was traveling behind the Toyota Tundra. Kriefels, the Tundra’s driver, was pronounced dead at the scene, and his 53-year-old wife, Lori, who was in the passenger seat was transported to Bryan West Campus with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Infinity’s driver, David Warren, 39, of Beatrice, was also taken to Bryan West where he is in critical, but stable condition. LSO said the occupants of the Ford Expedition and Peterbilt tractor truck were not injured.
According to LSO, seatbelts were used in the Toyota Tundra, Ford Expedition, and semi truck while Warren, the driver of the Infinity Q56, was not wearing a seatbelt. They believe speed played a role in the crash and are still determining if alcohol was also a factor. Warren has since had his license revoked.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office crash reconstruction team.
