Cassandra Flores, Hillary Armendariz, Death – A woman and three children were killed and a suspect died after an apparent quadruple murder-suicide at a home in a northwest Oklahoma City neighborhood. Police said the investigation started around 11:30 p.m. after a family member walked into a home in a neighborhood near Melrose Lane and Rockwell Avenue and found a woman and three children shot and a man with a gunshot wound to the head. The woman and two of the children were pronounced dead at the scene, and the third child died at a hospital.
A man accused in the quadruple murder was also found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital, where police said he died. “That family member reported that when he arrived, he did locate several of his family members deceased at the home,” Capt. Valerie Littlejohn, with the Oklahoma City Police Department, said. “It appears this was a murder-suicide attempt. The suspect, who is an adult male, had shot himself.”
The Oklahoma City Police Department identified the victims as 29-year-old Cassandra Flores, 9-year-old Hillary Armendariz, 5-year-old Damaris Armendariz and 2-year-old Matias Armendariz. Police also identified the suspect as 28-year-old Ruben Armendariz.
Investigators believe Flores and Ruben Armendariz were married but separated, according to a news release. Police said it appeared he shot the four victims before turning the gun on himself.
The investigation is in its early stages. Police said detectives are working to piece together what led up to the quadruple murder-suicide.
