Catherine Ruggly Death – Ohio State Troopers have confirmed the identity of the pedestrian who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident in Smith Township on Wednesday evening. The victim has been identified as Catherine Ruggly, a 48-year-old resident of Austintown. According to the troopers, she was walking in dark clothing along Alliance Sebring Road when she was struck by an SUV, leading to her falling into a watery ditch. Despite being rushed to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.
The vehicle involved briefly stopped after the collision before continuing eastbound towards Sebring. Authorities at the Canfield Highway Patrol Post are currently working on identifying the victim and locating the driver of the SUV. The vehicle is believed to have sustained damage on its front right side, with parts of it found at the crash site. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Sebring Police Department, Smith Township Police Department, and Smith Township Fire and EMS all provided assistance at the scene.
