Celie Rain Montgomery, Samuel Knopp Obituary – A potential double-homicide is currently under investigation by the Colorado police after two individuals were found shot to death in a dormitory room at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs over the weekend.
The victims have been identified as 24-year-old Samuel Knopp, a registered student, and 26-year-old Celie Rain Montgomery, who is not currently enrolled as a student. The police are actively searching for the perpetrator as the investigation continues.
Upon receiving a report of gunshots fired in a dormitory room, the police promptly responded to the scene just before 6 a.m. on Friday. The victims were discovered shortly thereafter.
One student, Adam Trujillo, expressed his shock, stating, “I was taken aback. Honestly, I had woken up to an email from one of my professors informing me about a lockdown and advising me to stay safe.”
As a result of the incident, classes were canceled for the remainder of the day.
While the police are refraining from disclosing specific details regarding the ongoing investigation, they have stated that they do not believe this to be a random act.
In response to the tragic loss of two lives, the university has declared Monday as a “day of healing.”
“We are deeply saddened as we come to terms with this devastating loss of two individuals,” expressed UCCS Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet.
