Christine Sawamura Death – The woman who tragically lost her life in a head-on collision with a dump truck in Glastonbury on Friday morning has been identified by the police. The operator of the vehicle was Christine Sawamura, a 56-year-old resident of Manchester. The authorities have stated that there is no further information to disclose at this time. The incident prompted a swift response from various emergency services, including the Glastonbury Police Department, Glastonbury Volunteer Fire Department, Glastonbury EMS, and Ambulance Service of Manchester.
Lieutenant Kevin Szydlo of the Glastonbury Police Department reported that the collision occurred on Keeney Street between Old Reservoir Road and Woodfield Crossing at approximately 10:36 a.m. on Friday. According to the preliminary investigation, the sedan, traveling north on Keeney Street, veered across the center line and collided head-on with the dump truck and trailer combination. Sadly, the sedan driver, who was not initially identified by the police, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lieutenant Szydlo confirmed that the dump truck driver did not sustain any injuries. The scene was processed by personnel from the Metro Traffic Services regional reconstruction team, Connecticut State Police Traffic Unit, and Glastonbury Police Department Traffic Unit.
