Christopher Minor Death, Officials have confirmed that Christopher Minor, a man from South Carolina who was wanted for allegedly killing his estranged wife and her friend, has been found dead. The Mauldin Police Department stated that Minor was discovered at Baker Creek State Park in McCormick County, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Park Rangers located his body near Lake Thurmond after searching the area when they found his vehicle unoccupied.
The incident occurred on Saturday at around 6 p.m. when Mariellen Bessent Minor, 41, and her friend Kim Melissa Thrift, 52, arrived at the Arbors at Brookfield Apartments to pick up the children they shared with Christopher Minor. An argument ensued, leading to Christopher Minor shooting and killing both women. Mariellen Minor was found lying beside a vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds, while Thrift was found inside the vehicle they arrived in.
According to Fox Carolina, the shooting took place in front of witnesses, including children, although it remains unclear if the Minor children witnessed the incident. Christopher Minor was last seen driving a white Cadillac, and a “be on the lookout” warning was issued by the police.
Christopher Minor was facing charges of two counts of murder and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm in the commission of a violent act. Authorities revealed that a brother-in-law had encouraged Mariellen Minor to report her alleged domestic abuse to the authorities.
Mauldin Police Chief George Miller emphasized the importance of reporting domestic violence and urged others who may be experiencing it to seek help. He stated, “If you’re a victim of domestic violence, I’m begging you to report it so that we can assist you and try to prevent tragedies like this from happening.”
