Christopher Roma Obituary, Death: – The residents of Thornton, NH awoke to the tragic news of the passing of renowned hiker Christopher Roma. Authorities disclosed that the body of the 37-year-old adventurer was discovered by search and rescue officials a day after receiving a distress call. Concerned about his predicament, Christopher first contacted his friends to inform them of his situation before dialing 911 himself as the night grew colder and more perilous. Although his approximate location was identified between Mount Bond and Mount Guyot, the extreme winds and heavy snowfall rendered any rescue operation impossible. By the time the search and rescue team reached him, it was too late.
At approximately 10:20 pm, Christopher contacted his friends, prompting them to immediately notify the authorities. Once his approximate coordinates were obtained, rescue operations were initiated. By 2 am, the first rescue mission was underway, but the rescuers faced challenging terrain. The temperatures were frigid, and strong winds were gusting. With the snow reaching waist-high levels, it was determined that attempting a foot rescue would not be successful. The National Guard was promptly informed, and they embarked on three separate flights in search of the experienced hiker. Unfortunately, all their efforts were in vain due to the limited visibility and hazardous conditions.
