Claude Bulava Death – The identification of the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life in a crash near Lakewood, bordering Woodstock, on a Saturday afternoon, was disclosed on Tuesday. The deceased individual was confirmed to be 67-year-old Claude Bulava from Holiday Hills. McHenry County Coroner Michael Rein disclosed that Bulava’s preliminary cause of death was blunt force trauma. Rein further mentioned that the results of toxicology tests are still pending.
The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District and the Lakewood Police Department received an emergency call at 2:25 p.m. on Saturday regarding a collision involving a motorcycle and a minivan at the intersection of Route 176 and Dean Street in Lakewood, as stated by fire department spokesperson Alex Vucha.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency responders encountered a bystander administering CPR to Bulava, according to Lakewood Police Chief Mike Roth. Bulava was subsequently transported to Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital, where he was later declared deceased by Roth.
Another individual who was also on the motorcycle was airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with injuries classified as life-threatening. Meanwhile, the driver of the minivan was transported by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital.
The investigation into the crash is currently being conducted by the Lakewood Police Department and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Team.
