Clayton D. Whitcomb Death, ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI – Clayton D. Whitcomb, a 26-year-old man from Sturgis, was tragically killed in a collision after his vehicle veered into the path of another vehicle, as reported by the police. The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. on Saturday, March 30, in White Pigeon Township. Following a report of a two-vehicle crash, St. Joseph County sheriff’s deputies promptly arrived at the scene.
According to authorities, Whitcomb was driving eastbound on Fawn River Road when he crossed the centerline and collided with a 28-year-old man from Lagrange, Indiana, who was traveling westbound on the same road.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered Whitcomb trapped inside his vehicle. Tragically, Whitcomb was pronounced dead at the scene, while the Indiana man was transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Fortunately, his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently being investigated. Police have indicated that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, and it is suspected that alcohol and speed played a role in the tragic incident.
