Clenard Parker Death – One individual lost their life and over a dozen others sustained injuries when a man allegedly deliberately crashed a stolen semi-truck into a Texas Department of Public Safety office in Brenham on Friday, as per officials. A suspect is currently in custody, as confirmed by authorities.
“This is indeed a sorrowful day for us,” stated Texas DPS Regional Director Gerald Brown during a press briefing on Friday. The incident took place around 10:30 a.m. local time, when the driver forcefully drove a stolen 18-wheeler into a Texas DPS driver’s license office, Brown explained.
The suspect, identified as Clenard Parker, 42, had been notified by the office on Thursday that he did not qualify to renew his commercial driver’s license, according to authorities. The suspect then “returned today with intent to harm,” stated Washington County Judge Mark Keough in a social media post.
Six individuals were taken to nearby hospitals, with one succumbing to their injuries at the hospital, authorities reported. Eight victims were treated at the scene and discharged. All the victims were inside the building at the time of the crash. The exact number of civilians among them remains unclear, as per authorities.
Footage from the scene displayed significant damage to the Texas DPS office.
The Texas Rangers are conducting an investigation, and Texas DPS assured that there is no further threat to the community.
