Cody Allenn, Drexel Mack Obituary – Two individuals, a police officer and a court employee, tragically lost their lives on Thursday after being shot during an eviction in Independence, Missouri. During a press conference that evening, Justin Ewing of the Missouri State Highway Patrol revealed that a total of four individuals were shot during the incident – three officers from the Independence Police Department and one civil process server from the Jackson County Circuit Court.
The deceased were identified as Independence Police Officer Cody Allen and court employee Drexel Mack. The other two officers who were shot are currently recovering from their injuries. The first calls reporting the shooting came in at 1:09 p.m. local time, indicating that a civil process server from the Jackson County Circuit Court had been shot at the residence. Additional process servers were present at the scene, but no officers were with them at that time.
Following a call for immediate assistance, officers from the Independence Police Department arrived and were met with gunfire. A male suspect was apprehended and taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Missouri Governor Mike Parson issued a statement as the situation unfolded, expressing his concern for the injured officers and those involved in protecting the community.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was also present at the scene to assist the Independence Police Department.
