Delroy Parkes Death – An additional victim has passed away in the hospital due to injuries sustained in the Etobicoke mass shooting, which resulted in the death of another individual. Authorities have mentioned that an autopsy is currently being conducted, and they are unable to confirm whether the man’s death is a homicide linked to the shooting until the investigation yields results.
The family of the deceased individual stated that he was shot three times in the legs during the incident. The shooting occurred in the vicinity of Mount Olive Drive and Kipling Avenue near North Albion Collegiate Institute around 11 p.m. on Sunday.
Reportedly, a dark pickup truck pulled up to the high school’s parking lot, and two suspects emerged, firing shots before fleeing in the vehicle. Upon arrival, law enforcement and medical personnel found five injured individuals, all men aged between 40 and 60.
The victims were taken to a nearby hospital, where the first victim, identified as Delroy “George” Parkes on Tuesday, was pronounced dead. At that time, the other four victims had injuries ranging from severe to non-life-threatening.
The motive behind the shooting remains unknown. Detective-Sergeant Phillip Campbell mentioned on Monday that it was unclear if the deceased man was specifically targeted.
According to Campbell, the incident involved a group of men gathering after playing soccer in the afternoon, socializing and enjoying the outdoors. Approximately 15 to 20 people were present at the scene.
CityNews acquired security footage showing a dark-colored pickup truck crashing in front of a residence in Rexdale after a police pursuit following the shooting. The video also captured a foot chase involving multiple suspects.
A Toronto Police Service representative declined to provide details regarding the pickup truck seen in the surveillance footage. As of now, no information about the suspects has been disclosed.
