Demonta McKoy Obituary – Fayetteville police are investigating a man who was shot and killed at a home on Broadmore Drive Tuesday night. According to police, the shooting happened around 11:45 pm at a home in the 800 block of Broadmore Drive. Police identified the man as 40-year-old Demonta McKoy. His girlfriend confirmed that the shooting happened at this house and declined to speak further amid the investigation.
Neighbors tell ABC11 they’re in disbelief. The community is usually quiet and peaceful with mostly young families, veterans, and retirees. “We’ve never experienced anything like this. It’s a nightmare,” said Darrell Butler, a Broadmore Drive resident.
Butler tells ABC11 he was one of the neighbors who called 911.
He and the other neighbors say they saw two people walking up to the house right before the shooting happened on camera. After hearing the gunshots, Butler says he walked out his front door and could see McKoy lying dead in his garage. Neighbors also say it appeared the two individuals who walked up to the house had waited there for McKoy to pull into his garage, then opened fire after he stepped out of his car.
“It shot probably 20 rounds in a matter of seconds. It was doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo. And I mean they were heavy,” Butler said.
