Deroyal Miller Death – State police have identified the 2-year-old girl who was found dead in the Connecticut River after a Route 9 crash involving her mother and another driver Monday evening.
Deroyal Miller, 2, of Cromwell, was found in a rocky section of the Connecticut River hours after her mother was involved in a crash around 5:20 p.m. Monday on Route 9 northbound near exit 25 in Cromwell, state police said. The child was pronounced dead at 9:23 p.m. that night at the hospital, state police said.
The girl’s mother, 24-year-old Devoni Miller, also of Cromwell, was located walking along Route 9 about two hours after the crash, state police said.
Investigators are now trying to determine why Miller and her daughter got out of their vehicle after the crash and walked down an embankment to the river, according to state police.
