Dontrell Pierre, a 17-year-old from Algiers, succumbed to his injuries after being transported to University Medical Center in New Orleans. The agency confirmed this information. Meanwhile, a 20-year-old man who was also injured in the shooting remains in critical condition at the hospital.
As of Monday, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls reporting gunfire near the intersection of Rue Louis Phillippe and Westwood Drive in Marrero at around 8 p.m., according to Sgt. The teenager was then transported to University hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries approximately four hours later, as confirmed by the coroner’s office.
The 20-year-old victim found an alternative means to reach the hospital after the car crash.
