Edward Brooks Obituary, Death – The suspect who was shot and killed by police in North Las Vegas on Tuesday has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Upon receiving a call reporting shots fired in the area, NLVPD officers promptly responded to the 2200 block of E. Nelson Avenue. While the caller was still on the line with 911, the dispatcher heard gunshots in the background.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers approached a courtyard where they encountered an armed man walking towards them. Despite being given multiple verbal commands to drop the firearm, the man disregarded the instructions and continued to advance towards the officers. As stated in a police report, two officers then discharged their duty firearms, striking the man. He was later identified as Edward Brooks, a 43-year-old resident of North Las Vegas.
Following the shooting, officers conducted searches of nearby apartments to ensure there were no additional victims related to the initial shooting call. Unfortunately, they discovered three deceased adult females and a dog in two separate apartments. However, they also found a young child unharmed in one of the apartments.
This incident marks the first officer-involved shooting for the NLVPD in 2024. As per NLVPD policy, the identities of the involved officers will be disclosed 48 hours after the incident.
