Emma Grzesik Obituary – A news release from the Sugar Grove police stated that a tragic accident occurred on Tuesday morning at the intersection of Route 47 and Waubonsee Drive, resulting in the death of an 18-year-old driver from Maple Park. The driver, identified as Emma Grzesik, was operating a 2018 Chevy Trax when she made a southbound turn onto Sugar Grove Parkway at around 9 a.m. She then proceeded to turn left at the entrance of the community college. At the same time, a Volvo semi-trailer truck was traveling north on Sugar Grove Parkway towards Waubonsee Drive when the collision took place.
Sadly, Emma Grzesik succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. The Kane County Coroner’s Office confirmed this information and mentioned that toxicology samples were collected for further analysis. The truck driver, on the other hand, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was also taken to a local hospital for treatment. Both individuals were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.
In response to the incident, the Sugar Grove police initiated the assistance of the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team (KCART) to aid in the investigation. As a result, the northbound lanes of Sugar Grove Parkway, spanning from Bliss to Harter roads, were closed for approximately five hours to facilitate the on-scene investigation. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office, the Office of Emergency Management, Waubonsee Community College Police, and the Sugar Grove Fire Protection District all provided support and assistance during the investigation and traffic control.
