Frank Lando Jr Death – A Toms River resident has been identified as the motorcyclist who lost his life in a collision involving a New Jersey State Trooper on Route 70 in Burlington County earlier this month. According to New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, Frank Lando Jr., 65, was riding the motorcycle involved in the crash with Trooper Anthony Fernandes on April 9. The incident occurred around 11:35 a.m. in the area of Burrs Mill Road in Southampton.
Lando was immediately taken to Virtua Mount Holly Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:45 p.m., as confirmed by authorities. Fortunately, Trooper Fernandes did not suffer any significant injuries.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, and the Attorney General’s Office is conducting the inquiry in accordance with Attorney General Directive 2019-4. This directive mandates that the office investigates any death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer while the officer is on duty or when the deceased is in custody. It also establishes clear guidelines and procedures for such investigations.
