Geraldine E. McAndrews Death – A woman lost her life in a collision involving two vehicles on the morning of April 17 in Tucson’s north side. Emergency services were dispatched to the scene at N. Oracle Road and W. Genematas Dr. shortly after 9:20 a.m. Upon arrival, the drivers of the 2005 Ford Escape SUV and the 2020 BMW sedan were assessed by TFD.
The female driver of the Ford sustained serious injuries and was transported to Banner University Medical Center, while the male driver of the BMW, aged 49, suffered minor injuries.
Following a visit to the hospital, it was confirmed that the woman’s injuries were not life-threatening. However, she tragically passed away later, as reported by the Pima County Office of the Medical Examiner. The deceased was identified as 82-year-old Geraldine E. McAndrews, and her family was informed.
According to the investigation, McAndrews was making a left turn from southbound Oracle Rd. onto Genematas Drive when her vehicle was struck by the northbound BMW. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The Tucson Police Department determined that McAndrews’ failure to yield while turning left was the primary cause of the collision.
The inquiry into the incident is still ongoing.
