Harold Hoover Obituary – The El Paso County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver who was killed in a severe car accident at the end of January, as stated in a press release from the Colorado Springs Police Department on Tuesday morning. On January 22nd, at 12:12 p.m., authorities received reports of a collision involving two vehicles in the vicinity of the 3300 block of South Academy Blvd. After conducting an investigation, it was determined that the driver of the northbound vehicle had veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the second vehicle.
The police have confirmed that neither excessive speed nor alcohol played a role in the accident. Both drivers were promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their severe injuries. Unfortunately, the driver of the northbound vehicle succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The deceased driver has been identified as 84-year-old Harold Hoover, according to officials on January 23rd. Tragically, Hoover’s passing marks the fifth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs in 2024. By comparison, at this time last year, there had only been one traffic-related death.
