Hector R. Gagliardi Death – A fatal collision occurred on Monday night in the City of Hesperia, resulting in the death of a 67-year-old man and injuries to two other individuals. The incident took place at approximately 10:34 pm on April 15, 2024, on Mariposa Road near Mesa Street. The crash involved a Hyundai SUV, a silver 2007 Toyota Yaris, and a red 2003 Ford F150.
Emergency responders from the Hesperia Police Department and San Bernardino County Fire swiftly arrived at the scene to address the situation. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered two occupants inside the Hyundai SUV, with the female passenger trapped and requiring minor extrication. Both the husband and wife were subsequently transported by ambulance to receive medical attention for their non-life-threatening injuries.
The male driver of the Yaris sustained facial cuts from the shattered glass but declined medical transportation. Deputies utilized batons to break the windows of the pickup truck and reach the driver, who was in critical condition. CPR was administered on-site before the driver was urgently transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The deceased individual has been identified as Hector R. Gagliardi, a resident of Hinkley, according to the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
Mariposa Road was closed in both directions between Live Oak and Eucalyptus Streets for several hours while the Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team documented the scene. The Hesperia Police Department is currently investigating the official cause of the accident, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
