Jamie Ann Crabtree Obituary – The woman who was fatally shot by police north of the Twin Cities in North Branch has been identified by family members. Jamie Ann Crabtree, 36, was killed during an encounter with officers near her home. Her sister-in-law and husband confirmed her identity. Crabtree was armed with a handgun, intoxicated, and suicidal during the confrontation.
One officer used a nonlethal pepper ball before another officer shot her with his firearm. She passed away at the scene. Sister-in-law Sarah Clifford described Crabtree as a caring person who loved her family, friends, and animals. The reason behind the officers firing at the woman has not been disclosed by the police yet.
The incident was recorded on body-worn cameras. The officers involved are on administrative leave, and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is leading the investigation. Further details are expected to be released soon.
