Jamie Felix Death – A tragic incident unfolded in a motel parking lot in West Palm Beach, where a Port St. Lucie teacher’s life was abruptly ended in a brutal act of violence. The teacher, identified as Jamie Felix, was only 45 years old and worked as an algebra teacher at Manatee Academy K-8 School. Her estranged husband, Ray Felix, who was 60 years old, was responsible for this murder-suicide. The horrifying ordeal began when Ray coerced Jamie and their two children into his rental car, forcing her to write a distressing email to her coworkers at gunpoint. Later that day, they arrived at a business to collect Jamie’s car, which ultimately led them to the fatal encounter in the motel parking lot on Belvedere Road.
The authorities from Port St. Lucie and West Palm Beach police departments discovered Jamie’s body at the scene. It is a stark contrast to the mathematical brilliance Jamie once brought to her profession, now overshadowed by the darkness of estrangement and violence. Thankfully, the two boys, aged 10 and 17, were physically unharmed throughout this terrifying ordeal. After the shooting, Ray Felix went to a nearby rental car facility, where he took his own life when approached by officers from the West Palm Beach Police.
There was no exchange of gunfire during this tragic event. The St. Lucie School District expressed deep sorrow and offered ongoing support and counseling services to those affected by this devastating loss. Jamie’s dedication, passion, and joy will be remembered by her students and those who knew her best, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled.
