Jamil Moreland, Wyatt Jennesse Obituary – The deceased individual, identified as 28-year-old Jamil Moreland of Fort Lauderdale, lost his life after being struck and killed by a Broward County sheriff’s deputy on Saturday morning. The incident occurred near the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, where BSO Pompano Beach District deputies and the Pompano Beach Fire Department responded to the accident.
Another deputy, 24-year-old Wyatt Jennesse, was present at the scene. Moreland was pronounced dead on-site. Jennesse was responding to a lewd and lascivious report near North Powerline Road when the tragic accident took place. Moreland was found in the road, either lying or crouching, when he was hit by Jennesse. The deputy immediately stopped and reported the incident.
Investigators have confirmed that Moreland was the individual associated with the initial call Jennesse was responding to, and no other injuries were reported. The ongoing investigation has not found any evidence of driver impairment, excessive speed, or mechanical failure as contributing factors to the accident.
