Janice Henderson Obituary, Death – Authorities on Tuesday released the name of an 84-year-old woman who died in a house fire in the Mount Helix area just over two weeks ago. Janice Henderson died in a fire on Ravel Street near Bancroft Drive on July 8, the county coroner said. At the time of the fire, authorities erroneously announced that she was 87 years old.
The fire was reported around noon. 3 pm. The sheriff’s sergeant said officers entered the house to rescue Henderson from the second floor but were forced back by smoke and flames. Anthony Portillo said. Henderson’s granddaughter made it out of the house safely. Firefighters found Henderson, but she died at the scene.
San Miguel Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Nick Nava told OnScene TV that the house was “a two-story house built on the hillside,” which made it difficult for firefighters to get close to the source of the fire. said he finds it difficult to Nava said the fire had spread to about a quarter of an acre of scrubland.
Three days after the fire, a woman who identified herself as Henderson’s granddaughter said in a post on social media app Nextdoor that Henderson was bedridden and in hospice care. According to her post, Hannah Henderson said she went downstairs and lay down when her grandmother wanted her to take a nap. That’s when a man Hannah Henderson described as her gardener kicked in the door and told her there was her fire. She ran to the stairs and said she saw flames at the top of the stairs. She said she heard an “explosion” that was believed to have happened when an oxygen tank caught fire in her grandmother’s room and she fell backwards. The man helped her and her dog out of the house.
The county coroner said Tuesday that Henderson’s cause and cause of death have yet to be determined. Meanwhile, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, Portillo said.
Hannah Henderson told NBC 7 and 10 News that her grandmother was a famous sculptor and driftwood artist. She was also a former Navy nurse, Henderson told the television news channel. Hannah Henderson told 10News, “Her artwork will live on forever, and I take some comfort in that.”
According to NBC7, Henderson was battling Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD for short.
