Jason Hibbert Death – The Stuart Police Department has identified the individual who was fatally shot on Monday. The department has confirmed that the victim was Jason Hibbert, a 39-year-old male, who was shot and killed at 806 Southeast Spruce Avenue. Upon receiving reports of a person being shot, the police promptly responded to the scene.
Officers administered CPR to Hibbert until Stuart Fire Rescue arrived. Subsequently, the victim was airlifted to HCA Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce, where he was pronounced dead at 12:46 p.m. Following the shooting, the suspect was traced to the vicinity of 937 Southeast Spruce Ave. A 17-year-old male was apprehended and charged with second-degree murder.
The police department has stated that the shooting transpired after a minor verbal altercation. As a precautionary measure, Police Chief Joseph Tumminelli ordered the lockdown of three nearby public schools due to the suspect being at large during the incident. Additionally, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office briefly placed the Martin County Courthouse on lockdown. The police department extends its condolences to the family and friends of the victim.
