Jawaylan Patterson Obituary – The incident took place during a regular operation on the overnight shift just before 5 a.m. as hot steel was being poured into a casing. Due to a malfunction, the molten steel began spilling in the area where Patterson was stationed with a water hose to control any leaks. Despite an employee’s warning to clear the area, Patterson was unable to move out of harm’s way quickly enough. Consequently, the hot steel poured onto him, resulting in his death, as reported by WKBN and KDKA. According to WKBN, the steel filled the entire floor area. By the time emergency responders arrived, Patterson had already passed away.
