Jo C. Zartman Obituary, Death – The York County Coroner’s Office has identified the woman who perished in a fire in Jackson Township on Tuesday. According to the coroner’s report, Jo C. Zartman, 71, was pronounced dead in her mobile home in Chesapeake Estates shortly after 9 a.m. The report states that Zartman, who relied on oxygen, had been smoking.
The cause and manner of her death are awaiting the results of a toxicology report. The fire was confined to the interior of Zartman’s home, where she resided alone. It was determined that the fire had started several hours before it was reported. Fire crews were dispatched to the scene just before 8 a.m., and by the time they arrived, the fire had already been extinguished.
Engines from Nashville and Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Co. were present at the scene. Deputy Chief Neal Doyle of Nashville Volunteer Fire Co. confirmed that the fire had been extinguished upon their arrival.
