Johnathan Esch, Daniel Harris Obituary – Clinton County Sheriff’s Office authorities have identified the two men who lost their lives in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday evening and have shared more details about the 14 other family members who were injured. Johnathan Esch, 30, from Grand Haven, and Daniel Harris, 42, from Grand Ledge, were fatally struck by a suspected drunk driver on South Wacousta Road.
Ashley Marie Monroe, 35, from Perrinton, faces 11 felony charges in connection with the incident and is being held on a $1 million cash bond. The extended family members who were hit were walking along South Wacousta Road when the tragic event occurred. Six individuals remain hospitalized, with one in critical condition, while eight others have been treated and released.
The sheriff’s office reported that a 38-year-old woman is still in critical condition at an undisclosed hospital. The victims range from a 2-year-old girl to a 61-year-old woman, all with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing, and Monroe was apprehended after fleeing the scene. The incident prompted a coordinated response from various law enforcement agencies and emergency services in the Lansing region.
