Johnathan Odom Obituary – The individual who was shot on Friday morning during a dispute in the Dollar General parking lot on Haines Avenue in Rapid City has been identified as Johnathan Odom, a 43-year-old resident of Rapid City. The Rapid City Police Department disclosed Odom’s identity in a press release issued on Monday morning.
Upon receiving a report of the shooting at approximately 10:30 a.m., the Rapid City Police Department promptly responded to the scene and discovered Odom suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. He was immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment, while the suspect was apprehended. Unfortunately, Odom succumbed to his injuries later that day.
According to Police Chief Don Hedrick, witnesses at the scene informed the authorities that the shooting was a result of an argument that took place in the parking lot. Hedrick expressed his disapproval of such acts of violence occurring in broad daylight, emphasizing that it is not acceptable and should not be normalized within the community. He assured that the investigation into the incident is being taken very seriously, with all necessary steps being undertaken to ensure that those responsible are held accountable.
