Jonathan Orellana-Lozada Death – Police have requested the assistance of the public in a fatal shooting that resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man in Exposition Park on Tuesday, as per authorities. Officers from the Southwest Division of the Los Angeles Police Department were conducting patrols in the vicinity of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Vermont Avenue at approximately 5 p.m. when they heard gunshots nearby, according to a news release from the department.
Upon arriving at the scene, located in a strip mall parking lot, law enforcement discovered the victim, later identified as Jonathan Orellana-Lozada, a resident of L.A., who had sustained a gunshot wound. Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department arrived at the scene of the shooting and pronounced the 26-year-old deceased.
Footage from above the scene of the investigation depicted a canopy in the parking lot, a significant portion of which was sectioned off with crime scene tape while police established a perimeter, interviewed individuals in the vicinity, and searched for a suspect or suspects.
Authorities mentioned that three individuals at the scene were apprehended, although it was not disclosed whether they were taken into custody. “The incident is presently under investigation by detectives from the South Bureau Homicide Division of the Los Angeles Police Department, including the examination of the three individuals detained,” the release indicated.
Officials also noted that there is currently no description of a suspect, and the motive behind the fatal shooting remains unknown.
