Jose Evangelista Yanascual Cumbalaza Obituary – New Hampshire State Police identified a man who was killed in a van crash on Interstate 93 in Hooksett on Saturday. Around 5:15 p.m., state police were sent to the area of Mile Marker 26.8 on the southbound side of the highway for a reported rollover. When they arrived, they found a 2008 Chevrolet Express van had crashed on the shoulder of the Interstate. Investigators, Amber Lagace, the public information officer for state police, said, “(the) van was traveling southbound when the vehicle cut across the median dividing I-293 southbound and I-93 southbound, lost control, and rolled over coming to rest on the shoulder.”
Several people were ejected from the van during the crash. Fire and rescue teams from Hooksett and Bow were requested at the scene. One man, Jose Evangelista Yanascual Cumbalaza, 50, of Brockton, Massachusetts, was killed at the scene. Hendry Matias Chuqui Pena, 38, also of Brockton, MA, was identified as the driver. Three people were taken to Elliot Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The state’s collision, analysis, and reconstruction unit were requested to investigate the incident. All aspects of the crash remain under investigation.
