Joseph M. Kessler, Cristina Kessler Obituary – The coroner of Christian County, Amy Calvert Winans, has provided further details regarding the tragic incident involving a couple who lost their lives when their recreational vehicle was hit by a train. The couple has been identified as Joseph M. Kessler, 73, and his wife Cristina Kessler, also 73, from Sarasota, Florida.
According to the preliminary autopsy results, the cause of death for the Kesslers was determined to be “multiple blunt force injuries” sustained from the collision. The unfortunate incident took place on April 25, around noon, on 2300 North Road, just west of Illinois 48.
The Christian County Sheriff’s Department issued a news release stating that the RV was traveling eastbound on 2300 North Road when it collided with a northbound train. The release mentioned that the RV had crossed onto the tracks, resulting in the collision with the train.
To respect the privacy of the Kessler family, their identities were initially withheld until their relatives could be notified about the tragedy. Coroner Winans shared that the couple had embarked on a remarkable journey to visit all 50 states and nearly all U.S. National Parks.
