Kenneth B. Faulkner, Death- It took more than a month, but New York State Police have identified a Horseheads man as the victim of a one-vehicle crash and fire in Jefferson County in northern New York.
DNA testing conducted by the Onondaga Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the sole occupant and operator of the vehicle was 25-year-old Kenneth B. Faulkner, according to state police at Alexandria Bay.
The crash took place shortly after 4:30 a.m. Aug. 5 near 17643 County Route 181 in the Jefferson County Town of Clayton, state police reported.
As Clayton Fire Department units arrived on the scene, the truck was fully engulfed in flames and had been burning for an extended period of time, troopers said.
A preliminary investigation indicates Faulkner was traveling eastbound on county Route 181 when his truck crossed the westbound lane, exited the roadway, struck a wooden fence, and ultimately collided with a large tree. The impact of the crash caused a fire to erupt that quickly engulfed the vehicle, state police said.
After firefighters extinguished the blaze, emergency responders located a set of human remains in the driver area of the truck.
No other information was available regarding the crash or the victim.
