Kenya Collins Obituary – Police have identified the Saginaw woman who was fatally shot on Sunday night before the suspect engaged in a shootout with law enforcement. Michigan State Police reported that 47-year-old Kenya Collins was killed by a 63-year-old man inside a home on Cathay Street in Saginaw around 9:30 p.m. The suspect, who had a relationship with Collins and resides in Illinois, also shot another man at the home. The second victim, whose identity was not disclosed, is recovering from his injuries.
After the shooting, the suspect placed Collins in his vehicle and drove away before the police arrived. Authorities located the SUV nearby in Buena Vista Township. The suspect allegedly rammed a Michigan State Police trooper’s patrol car, and gunfire was exchanged between the suspect and the trooper, though no one was hit.
Collins was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, where she succumbed to her injuries. As of Tuesday, the suspect remained in Saginaw County Jail awaiting arraignment on unspecified charges.
