Kim May Barranco Death – Kim May Barranco, 59, was tragically killed in a hit-and-run incident near downtown on Tuesday afternoon. The coroner’s office confirmed her identity on Thursday. Despite the SUV involved in the collision being found, the driver responsible is still being sought by the authorities. Barranco, who did not have a listed address according to the coroner’s office, was struck and fatally injured around 12:56 p.m. on Tuesday in the vicinity of San Pablo Avenue and West Grand Avenue.
She was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk when a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban, traveling at a high speed, struck her. Sadly, she passed away at the scene. The driver of the SUV fled the scene, and the vehicle was last seen heading northbound on San Pablo Avenue. However, the police later recovered the SUV in Oakland. In an effort to bring justice to Barranco’s untimely death, the Oakland Police Department and Crime Stoppers are offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information that leads to the arrest of the driver.
