Markus Guy, a 31-year-old resident of Charleston, was charged with two counts of murder and was arraigned on Wednesday evening. According to a criminal complaint filed by the Kanawha County Magistrate Court, Guy and his girlfriend voluntarily went to the Charleston Police Department on Wednesday, where Guy confessed to killing his girlfriend’s mother and teenage brother.
Upon searching the residence, Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies found the bodies of Alisha Brooke Carnefix and Koda Jarrett. She also mentioned that the vehicle they used to go to the police station contained two pistols, one of which she believed was used in the killings.
The girlfriend revealed that she resided with her mother and brother on Sapphire Road in St. Albans. The Sheriff’s Office stated that both victims had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Guy is currently being held without bond at the South-Central Regional Jail. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 15.
