The incident occurred at the intersection of 64th Ave and Lamar St. on Monday afternoon at approximately 3:39 p.m. According to a news release, the collision transpired when a silver GMC pickup truck, traveling east on 64th Ave, disregarded a red light and collided with a maroon Toyota sedan that was heading north on Lamar St.
As a result of the impact, the sedan veered into the front yard of a residence situated on the northwest corner of the intersection. Meanwhile, the pickup truck continued its course east on 64th Ave and struck a gray Ford Bronco traveling in the opposite direction. Preliminary investigations into the tragic incident have revealed these details.
At the time of the crash, there were two adults and two children inside the sedan. They were promptly transported to local hospitals for medical attention, with one of the children sustaining serious injuries. Tragically, the driver of the sedan, identified as 44-year-old Kresten Wolff Thomsen, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Ford Bronco was also taken to a local hospital but only suffered minor injuries.
The driver of the silver GMC pickup truck, identified as 23-year-old Juan Ortega Torres Jr., was transported to a hospital for treatment and is currently in custody.
