The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office mentioned in its Tuesday afternoon release that the Dodge County Highway Department and the Dodge County Traffic Safety Committee have previously studied the intersection and made recommendations to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. However, the sheriff’s office emphasized that they do not have control over safety improvements at state intersections. They noted that “numerous” safety enhancements have been requested for this intersection due to its problematic nature, but these requests have not been approved by the Wisconsin DOT.
