Makhi Swanson Obituary – The first shooting homicide in the state of Delaware in 2024 occurred in Wilmington’s Hilltop neighborhood last week, resulting in the death of a 23-year-old man identified as Makhi Swanson. The incident took place on Jan. 22, a little before 3:15 p.m., in the 300 block of North Scott St., according to the police. Upon arrival at the scene, officers found Swanson in critical condition. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. The Wilmington Police have not disclosed any information regarding the identification of a suspect in the killing.
Tragically, Swanson’s death was followed by another shooting incident less than an hour later. Two children, a 14-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, were shot inside a residence located in Wilmington’s Brandywine Hills, specifically in the 500 block of W. 40th St., at 3:53 p.m. Both victims were transported to the hospital and are currently in “stable” condition, as reported by the Wilmington police.
