Maria Vega-Rivera Obituary, Death – A town resident was struck and killed by a snow plow driver on Jan. 16. The incident occurred in the parking lot of the Maple Gardens apartment complex. North Providence Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to 25 McGuire Road at 1:10 p.m., and they found 71-year-old Maria Vega-Rivera with serious injuries. Vega-Rivera was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead by medical staff. Police issued the driver of the plow, identified as 30-year-old Lloyd Card, several motor vehicle violations for operating an unregistered vehicle and driving with a suspended license, along with future court dates.
