Mark David Langille Obituary – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a fatal collision that occurred when a pedestrian was hit and killed on Saturday night outside Ashland. At 9:35 p.m., dispatchers received a call reporting a pedestrian injured and the suspect vehicle still at the scene in the 500 block of South Valley View Road. JCSO deputies, Ashland Police Department officers, and an Ashland Fire ambulance all responded.
The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Next-of-kin has been informed. The deceased has been identified as Mark David Langille, 50, of New Mexico.
Jackson County Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (STAR) and JCSO Medical Examiner detectives were called in to assist with the investigation. The driver of the suspect minivan has been taken into custody, and a search warrant for a blood draw has been granted.
“Potential charges for the suspect are pending further investigation, toxicology reports, and a mechanical inspection of the vehicle,” JCSO’s report stated. “The suspect’s name will be released if and when charges are filed.” The case remains under further investigation with deputies and the STAR Team following additional leads.
