Marshone Sheppard Death – A man who was killed and two individuals who were apprehended following a shooting in central Lubbock have been identified by the police. At around 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, officers were already present in the 1600 block of 50th Street for an unrelated matter. However, at 1:51 a.m., they received a report of shots being fired. The officers discovered the lifeless body of Marshone Sheppard, aged 37, outside Taco Shack on the front sidewalk. Initial investigations suggest that Sheppard was among a group of people waiting to enter Taco Shack when an unidentified suspect fired a shot, fatally striking him.
The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle. In response to the incident, the Special Response Group of the Lubbock Police Department was deployed to manage a large crowd at the location. Marquis Sheppard, aged 36, was arrested and charged with interference with public duties and unrelated warrants, while Larry Young, aged 38, was also arrested and charged with interference with public duties, resisting arrest, and an unrelated warrant.
Both individuals were taken into custody and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center. The Forensics Investigation Unit and the Texas Anti-Gang Center Unit also responded to the scene. As of now, the police have not released any suspect description or additional information regarding the shooting, as the investigation is still ongoing.
